New Ultrasounds and Ups and Downs

Well, Cassi got home from her Winter Bible Camp and she had a great time, but boy was she sore from all the hiking. Over the weekend I got to just chill out for the most part. Monday I managed to get several letters done that I had put off for a few weeks. I was happy about that, but Cassi has had too emotional breakdowns this week. A lot of it is pressure about the future. But I just try to comfort her, but if that doesn't work I just let her cry it out and then we talk about it.

Tuesday she FINALLY had her first OB appointment. This time the insurance was ready and so she got weighed. She lost another 2-3 pounds. But I think the nausea is going down so hopefully she'll stop losing weight. Not that I want her to gain a lot of weight during the pregnancy, but losing weight isn't good! But I think she's feeling better and maybe eating a little more than she was. Let's hope!

Anyway, at the OB appointment they did an ultrasound and now the Due Date has been changed to September 24th. It's so cool! In the ultrasound you can see the little hands and feet!

I can't help feeling joy at the life that's just beginning! But I hate how it's stressing Cassi out but she won't even consider adoption and I'm going to help her as much as I can! I think it will turn out okay. I have faith that God wouldn't have her get pregnant just to lose the baby. Plus she loves Aaron/Erin with all her heart already. I think things will turn better for her when she feels her little one move inside her. There is no feeling like it!

Yesterday we had a meeting at the school to see about placing her in a school program for pregnant teens. Unfortunately the woman was busy and simply forgot, but we did wait an hour for her. However tomorrow she is supposed to be therefor sure so that's the new meeting date. That evening we had dinner with Jason and Susan. Jason made a joke about Cassi an though she didn't get really bent out of share when we were there it was just one more thing on her plate and she lost it for awhile on the way home and at home. She was so sure that her life was over. That she would never be a kid again - that's kind of true, but it's not like she'll never had fun again so I let her cry it out because nothing I said was going to help. We all get to those times where all we can see is the darkness. Anyway, Jordan gave her a hug and then he got her to smile and laugh.

Today when she got up she told me that her life wasn't over. That adults had fun too, just not as often, so she was ready to grow up. There will probably be a few more flip flops before all is said and done, but I'm glad she can see that at the moment.

So now, we eat our chili and cornbread for dinner, relax and go to sleep for tomorrow to start!

Mood Swings, Baby Bump and More!

Well, today I woke up tired like I have woke up for several days now. But right now I'm awake and ready to do the things I need to do and hopefully will get most done, thanks to some coffee I had, but I can't drink it all the time without suffering the consequences.

Originally I was going to write some letters until I had to take Jordan to therapy, but Cassi had lost an ear plug and my idea was to go up to Walmart, buy some orange juice for Cassi for the vitamin C and folic acid. I also got her a single serving of Tru Moo for the Calcium. When I went to check out, I was hoping to pull off about $8 so I could take her to get plugs for her ears so the holes wouldn't close up, but they only let you pull money in increments of $20. I don't have that much on my cash card. I was upset about it, but there was nothing I could do. So I was going to go to Vons because I KNEW they would take off only what I needed, but we ran out of time because I have to get Jordan to therapy. We were both unhappy about it. I told her she should clean up her room and that maybe she would find it. Talk about snappy. I guess we both started snapping at each other. She did catch me in something I do. I check my phone messages while at stop lights and she got WAY upset over that! LOL! I guess I know I shouldn't be doing it, but at a stop light is it really that bad when I am always keeping an eye out for the light to change? Well, maybe I shouldn't do that, but I do.

But we did talk about other things. I asked her if she was drinking enough water and stuff like that. How many prenatal vitamins she had left. Turns out only a few so it's a good thing she had her OB appointment on Friday! Then we also talked about the fact that she would start showing soon. She told me she had. Someone already saw a little bit of a baby bump. :-D That and I asked her what she wanted to do about clothes for her pregnancy and she said she wanted to wear dresses!! She thought they would be better and I have to agree since she's going to be pregnant during the summer. I haven't bought anything for the baby, but it's my weird, "I don't want to jinx it" thing. I know she worries about losing the baby. She has mentioned it before, but she prays about it, I think. She already loves her little baby so much!! And for me, it's a great thing to see. For the most part she is growing up and taking good care of herself and the baby. I just wish she'd clean up her room! LOL!

The Adventure Begins!

What can I say? I suppose I should start with the fact that I am 43. My son is 21 years old. He does have a girlfriend, but she isn't the one pregnant. I also have a 15 year old daughter . . . Yep . . . she's the one pregnant. Now she's not like some of those teens out there that WANT to get pregnant. She DIDN'T want to get pregnant. But sometimes accidents happen and one did.

I found out this last Sunday. Cassi had been having an upset stomach making her feel nauseous. I didn't think much of it until she threw up three mornings in a row. That's when I said it was time to get  pregnancy test. I bought it and gave it to her. I went to my room and in a few minutes she came in balling her eyes out as she showed me a positive pregnancy test. I was all calm because I was expecting that outcome and I said it was okay and what did she want to do - neither of us wanted her to have an abortion. As a Christian it's not something I would chose and and with her being a Christian it's the same way. I asked if she wanted to give the baby up for adoption and she said she didn't want to do what my birthmom did. I would go into way, but it doesn't serve a purpose. So she chose to keep it. As soon as we talked I said she might want to call Jessica, her youth group leader who she got very close to. Turned out she was already calling her. She just told her that God planned this and not to be afraid. And that she was doing the right thing. The whole Women and Youth Ministry is rallying around her, which has made me incredibly happy. Her friends are supportive and so are my friends. I told her babies are blessing and I mean it. My mother - Great Grandma - freaked out and the woman who told me many times as a teen that she didn't believe in abortion actually expected her to get one . . . Yeah, okay . . . She is not supportive, but isn't saying much now. I also put in a call to her therapist.

Monday - Cassi called around while I was sleeping an organization called CAPS (College Are Pregnancy Services) and made an appointment to go in so that we could find out how far along she was with an ultrasound. I got up and got ready. Truth be told, I was excited about seeing the ultrasound! Okay, let me explain. Though this is NOT the time and place I would have chosen this to happen, I am very excited to be a Grandma! This baby is going to be blessing. I know it. So we went there. They were so nice. They verified her pregnancy and they gave her "What to Expect When You're Expecting." All I said was that I had looked for it at Barnes and Nobel and didn't find it. The receptionist told me to hold on a moment and came out this a fresh new copy! Cassi was in with the counselor. Then it was time for me to go back with her for the ultrasound! And seeing the little baby and the heartbeat was so awesome!!

I think they liked how excited and supportive I was. I mean, why be upset, you know? Then when we got back I told my sis Nicole and I think I might have told another couple of people. I keep thinking we did something else that day, but I can't remember. Oh wait. I called Cassi's therapist an I called her Psychiatrist to find out about the meds. She also gave me an appointment for Wednesday morning. After all, pregnancy changes everything.

Tuesday - I woke up early because we had to take in Casssi's kitten Ash Cloud in to get fixed and get my bunny Peeti's to get his nails trimmed, Then I started to make phone calls!! Call Welfare, Medi Cal, another call to expedite her switch over to Molina, called OB's, then I called SSI and WIC. Got her an appointment with WIC on the 14th. Yes, Valentine's day. I was so exhausted after all that time on the phone. That was after taking Cassi to school with a pregnancy verification. We talked to the nurse for awhile and her Case Manager. It went really well. That's also when someone blabbed around the school about Cassi's condition. She was pissed at first but in another day, she was over it and is in the whole world can know.

Wednesday - Got  up and took Cassi to her Pdoc appointment. That went well. Cassi had stopped her meds which was a good thing, but with Cassi's moods, the doctor found a medication that is clear for pregnancy and she'll start it when we get it in the mail in a day or to. I think the name of the med was Latuda.  Then after that we went to Welfare and took her pregnancy verification in. Then we even went to Babies R Us to look around, Found the theme she wants - Lion King - Simba and Nala. It's perfect and so cute!

Thursday - Today I had to get Cassi some new shoes. Her others had holes. Definitely time for it. Then when we got home I called a few OB's and got her an appointment for the 15th for her first OB appointment. I'm excited. I also had to do a lot of shopping for the month. I got her several things specifically for Cassi so that she'd eat. The funny thing is I think I am having sympathy pregnancy feelings! LOL! How crazy is that? I'm trying to talk Cassi into posing for side pix of her and her belly. You know, to watch her grow, but she's not wanting to . . . yet! I still have hope! :-)

Anyway, that has been the beginning of the adventure. I also started a special group just for support for Cassi on Facebook. And this is just my record - a record for me and my feels and all kinds of things that go on!!!  Want to be able to share my adventure!
